Accessibility

The Amazonia builds https://theamazonia.shop to be used with a keyboard, a screen reader, a magnifier, or none of those. This page says what we target, what is already in place, and where we know we fall short. It is a status report, not a marketing line.
The standard we build to
We target WCAG 2.2 Level AA, which also covers the EN 301 549 requirements that apply to sites reaching the EU. We test in Chrome, Safari, and Firefox, with VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, and by keyboard alone.
What is in place
- A skip link to the main content as the first stop on every page.
- Every control reachable and operable by keyboard, in the order the page reads.
- A visible gold focus ring on whatever holds focus, never removed and never invisible against the background.
- Body text at 17px or larger on mobile, and contrast checked at 4.5:1 or better against the surface behind it.
- Interactive targets at 24px minimum, 44px on touch screens.
- Alt text on every image that carries meaning, and empty alt on the decorative ones so screen readers skip them.
- Heading levels in order, one h1 per page, no skipped levels.
- Form fields with real labels, and errors written in text next to the field rather than by color alone.
- The whole site available in English and Spanish, with the page language attribute set to match.
Motion and the 3D scene
The home page opens with an animated sequence and keeps a 3D canvas behind the text. That canvas is decorative and hidden from assistive technology on purpose. Every product name, size, price, ingredient, and control it appears to hold also exists as ordinary HTML on the same page, so nothing is available only inside the 3D view.
If your system asks for reduced motion, we turn the animation off rather than shorten it: no opening sequence, no drifting products, no scroll effects. There is also a skip control in the first second of the animation, and the Escape key ends it.
Known gaps
- The Stripe checkout page is built and hosted by Stripe. We picked it because it is the most accessible option we can hand off to, but its behavior is theirs, not ours.
- On older phones the 3D models are replaced by still images. That path is fully usable, but it loses the drag-to-rotate view of the packaging.
- Automated contrast checking covers the design tokens. Third-party embeds, when we add any, will not be covered until we test them by hand.
